Ah, so it's a person's popularity which is the deciding factor when applying for a job as someone's serf. The fettering of access to your tools is merely a mechanism for denying you a political voice or opinion. It's all about forcing compliance and obedience to vested interests.

Now why didn't I, think of that? :-|

Thats a bit complicated for the average Joe with a cab to rent out, Skull.

Jim asked a question, I answered it.
He's not exactly popular among cab owners now is he?

I don't think it's complicated. Jim is being judged for voicing his political opinion and not on his ability to drive a cab. As a serf, if you happen to exercise your right of free speech, your tools are removed. :-|

If anyone wants an end to restrictive practices the above should be more than enough in a "Democratic" society.

serfs R US :-|

Oh and I should add, our politicians or the taxi trade as a whole, don't even seem to be conflicted with the above. So much for having rights, what a joke that is. #-o

I don't disagree, but I don't see how that's going to change anytime soon.

Is it the system which discriminates or a succession of cab owners? If it's the latter, I don't see how you're gonna change that.

I suspect there's a cu.nning plan forming though

The system only allows what serves vested interests, and if that means an abundance of serfs to choose from, then so be it. It's up to the slaves to rise up if they want the system changed. Unfortunately, if they are either too stupid or frightened to speak out then that's their problem. You see Gusmac, telling someone they have freedom of speech and actually allowing it, is a different story.

The politicians know the truth, and they simply don't care. The Dougie Broons of this world don't know anything but believe everything they are told.

The system is about control, and that's all the political class, and their wealthy elite are interested in. :-|

But as I said, in the areas I'm talking about HC is 'flooded' already anyway. Anyone can have a badge and anyone can get a drive, it's just that access to the tools of the trade is controlled.

So, why is this serf not working then?

Well clearly because you as an individual have been blackballed for speaking out against the system, but I assume your question is rhetorical, so you don't really need anyone else to tell you that.

But the wider point is that - presumably - anyone obtaining an HC brief in Edinburgh who hasn't been blackballed can get a drive.

Thus those who contrast the open-ended recruitment policies of the PH sector with the supposedly cossetted position of the HC trade are talking bullocks - both sides will take on any number of drivers irrespective of how much they are earning.

Of course, just like the PH barons the HC barons do enjoy an elevated/cossetted position, but the serfs in either sector don't.

Perhaps, but the problem is that using such lurid language simply damages your case rather than helps it.

Which more generally is perhaps why few people take forums like this seriously.

Indeed, I don't think even most of the regular posters take it that seriously.

Dusty, I don't have a case to prove, serf, simply sums up exactly. What is to be a taxi driver, whether you like to believe it or not? :-|

Oh and Dusty, serfs are the only thing that's not being taken seriously. It has nothing to do with forums. If the cap fits... :-|

Well we can all be proud of our society then?

We live in a system that discriminates against those who express their political opinion.

And there was me thinking that only applied to the cold war countries.

Sounds like another article of Human Rights is being breached.

Time for a lawyer methinks.

Your delusions continue. You are not being discriminated against for expressing political opinions.

Your unemployment is nothing to do with your "political" opinions it is to do with your unsuitability to do the job.
The opinions you express about others in the taxi trade are not political they are purely insulting.
You lack the ability to express yourself without resorting to personal tirades and reduce every conversation to an attack on anyone who dares to have an opinion different to yours.

You have been exposed several times as a liar, a cheat and a thoroughly nasty not so little worm despised by almost everyone who knows you.

Just as you do not want to be associated with those of us in the trade who accept an established and working system and work within that system to change what we think needs changed, it is not surprising that we disassociate ourselves from you who seeks only to destroy what we have fought long and hard to get.

Learning to accept others as equals and/or betters would be a first step....... but then, in your own mind, you are too good for us.

Yes, Skull, your analysis is having such an impact on the wider world that they're thinking of cancelling the Olympics because of it, it's only the people on here who're not taking you seriously :?

So if he's 'unsuitable' for the job then why does he still have a driver's badge then?

Thing is, if Jasbar could/would write a cheque for £50k he'd get a drive, no questions asked.

It's nothing to do with fitness, it's because he's blackballed for speaking out.

It's all about the money; the rest of your post is utterly self-serving nonsense.

Dusty, it has nothing to do with my analysis. serf, is a descriptive word of one's status within a chosen profession, in this case, being a taxi driver. As I said before, if the cap fits...

You might not like the word but fit it does, unless of course, you know different, we are all ears?

Dusty, one might think you are getting all bent out of shape, because the word, serf, applies particularly to you. And if that's the case, it's your problem, not mine. :?

You might be right. Your point was obviously lost in translation but feel free to spell it out, to one who has trouble with the language? :?

It basically comes down to the fact that we've got a different way of going about these things. End of. :D
