yeah, your right - dangerous work, 11 miles each way for £540 a week....

Thats more like it, mind if i were paying council Tax in your manor I think i would be calling for a proper school bus Service :D

Ignorance really is bliss for you is it not

The kids going to my destination travel in from Northampton (2 kids), Chesterfield (1 kid) Halesowen (2 kids) and so on, do me a route plan please for a school bus, given county says kids should not be in the vehicle for over an hour....

Who says they all need to be on the same bus?

BTW why do they have to travel so far?

It's a special school for kids with special educational needs.

We have some schools down here that have children from all over the country.

On Mondays and Fridays it a veritable pot-pouri of English and Welsh taxis/PHs.

Why would a coach be cheaper than a taxi, or even the 3 of us that convoy in every day along the same route, plus its time that can be the restricting factor

School buses wouldnt squeeze up half the roads I operate my School contracts on, if they did they'ed be travelling road blocks. It would go belly up very quickly for PSV's and other road users out here if they tried it.

I pick up eleven kids on my run. There are 2 other school buses do the same route as me except that one of the kids lives 1 mile down a single track road that has a very sharp "s" bend at the bottom of a steep hill. A bus would struggle to get around the bend. Once the kid is picked up I have to turn around and go back again, The alternative would be another 4 miles of the single track road.

a lot of these "special" schools are old country houses way out in the sticks and in fact not many kids have to go to them, small vehicles (cars/wavs) are the only way to get them there

You do that work your a mug what is it with cabbies why so bleedin SERVILLE :?: :?: :?:

far from being a mug trotskys twin ,if this contract was advertised correct it would of never been taken on in the 1st place ,now i dont about your manor trotskys twin but in my manor the rank work as died a death and the p/h arnt fairing much better either ,but im in a catch 22 situation if i hand the contract back on 7 days notice how quick do you think the council will be in offering out a new school contract :doubt: :?: ,if i could replace the work straight away and suffer no loss the contract would be gone ,as rightly been stated most contracts are good work or otherwise we wouldnt do them ,so when this contract as run its course one will not be tendering for s.e.n work again ,if parents want us to be escorts, first aiders ,guards, then they should seek alternative transport because theres no way councils will pay the extra dollar for the expertise required to transport these kids its usually lowest bid wins despite what the council say and dont forget theres a huge differance between school contracts and s.e.n school contracts #-o

So thats it then "THE LOWEST BID WINS" good old EU and Tory with of course new Labour policy and you burkes crawl through the slime to get yer snoughts in the trough, surely the children deserve Escorts First Aiders Security but while you lot are prepared to grovell for a crust what chance have they got.

Others make valid points about rural areas and poor road access which I accept.

Overall I think the cab industry involveld in these contracts are despicable many i have contact with will not prostitute themselves for this effing nonsense =D> =D>

The councils are bound by EU laws, not UK laws, having said that sometimes the lowest bids win, then (surprise surprise) the company wants more to continue (guess who does that) and the council has the option of sacking them, plus sometimes only 1 bid goes in....

The same EU laws also state all who tender should be told who won the contract and where they came in the bidding

To even get on the tender list you have to go through a framework tender and score a sensible rate...

BTW Trots, the more who DONT get involved make it easier and more profitable for those of us that do, i thank them

Yes i have seen the tendering process nothing more than a flash back to old days inthe docks when the foreman came out and threw tokens out for a days work and hundreds fought tooth and nail for one well weve stopped that and we will stop this obscenity.

If your happy good make the most of it it wont last.

As for europe I along with all on the Left camaigned long and hard against it but the geniouses voted for it didnt they =D> =D> =D>

so Trots, what would you suggest?

imagine 150 kids from different locations, mostly in different counties and/or towns (and villages) all need to be at remote education centre (or even Derby Blind school) for 08.45

how would you get them all there, how would you get the best VFM for the local authority?

cant wait for the answer
