Judge Menary said: "Rather than slow down and stop yourself, you pulled over into the offside lane and accelerated through those red lights. You made no effort to stop at all."
The lights had been red for 16 seconds when Howard drove through them, travelling at 83mph before crashing into Mr Sherwin's Ford Mondeo as it pulled out of Bridgehouse Lane, the court heard.
Those comments lead me to believe they had clear cut CCTV evidence of the incident, which 100% led to the guilty plea.
And going back to Streetview, the PHV would have been coming out of the side junction here. The accused was basically in the same position/lane as the Streetview car, but the lights were at red.
So the accused pulled into that lane to pass stationery traffic queueing at the lights, where the white Stagecoach car is. So obviously the cars waiting at the lights would have been good witnesses to it all.
Obviously with the incident happening at 5am you had to wonder whether there was any other traffic about, but the article does say that cars were queuing at the lights, presumalby where the Stagecoach car is.
