There's a PH company that uses a Hack company all the time

I maybe wrong but I thought Comcab are now mixed fleet

If PH companies are unwilling to provide data showing unmet demand then surely there case will be thrown out, can't base a SUD on a presumption

As for the radio circuit being no different to Ph, that is bullshi* becasue they are not interchangeable. You don't phone for a Taxi and then end up with a Ph at your door.

No? You do here

Aye but Ph and Hacks don't work the same radio circuits in Edinburgh and the data would still be commercially sensitive and not readily available to the council.

On the other hand, Uber is catering for all kinds of licensed vehicles and drivers, so even Dougie and flower can use their app by registering their taxis. =D> =D> =D> =D>

Or in Ubera case, unlicensed cars and unregistered drivers and without correct insurance

It's not often that you get something right Longshanks and this "Or in Ubera case, unlicensed cars and unregistered drivers and without correct insurance" is no exception.

You'll be driving for Uber soon enough... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I am all for Apps as they are the way forward but any taxi driver or ex taxi driver who supports Uber are off their heads.
Why would you want to funk up your trade by allowing Uber to use normal license holders (not taxi or ph drivers) but anyone with a license? ? I know a couple of ex drivers on here would love to see the demise of the Edinburgh taxi trade but to this??
If apps use legitimate taxi drivers then fair and good but doesn't look like the Uber way

Thanks Skull but drivers who have signed up are suggesting there weren't any checks to see taxi licence etc, only driving licence.

You are absolutely correct. I would love to see the demise of the Edinburgh Taxi Trade. As they deserve nothing less. I had the grave misfortune of working in the industry for over twenty years and I have never witnessed such a bunch of greedy, mealy mouthed, lowlife ars*holes, hell bent on working against their own interests.

So yes, Uber makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside....

In other countries but not in the UK. Uber seems to have changed tact and are now working with the authorities and trying to keep everyone sweet. =D> =D> =D>

According to some London drivers only licences were checked not taxi licence etc. I remain sceptical.

UBERX in other countries only require you to be 21 and have a driving licence and insurance.

Sorry but just checked and they are offering UBERX services in London already. They shouldn't get away with this and everyone should just boycott them in my opinion.

Stationloon, I think you need to try and view things objectively and read the writing on the can. :-|

Skull, if they can't get enough drivers/cars following the rules, do you think they'll just pack up and leave?
Their reputation world wide is to pi$$ all over any local regulations. I find it hard to believe they'd think twice about doing the same here.
