There are a few moaners from the "good old days" left in Ayr as well, Skull, not all of them that old, either.

Nothing is as good as it was. None of us will ever be as rich as you are, from the easy takings that you made whenever it was that you were in your prime.

However, be that as it may, many of us are making a half decent living out of driving Hacks and PCs and trying to make even more. So why not spare us the comparisons and be constructive for once.

My constructive prediction for the tax trade in Edinburgh:

The recession is now turning into depression and is far from over. The economy is flat lining while unemployment is on the increase, and with Europe teetering on the brink, there's more bad news to come.

The Hack trade in Edinburgh, will not recover to any great degree as they will be overran by Ph, by around 2020. Even if the economy does pick up, sooner than expected, I doubt the hacks will feel the benefit, as any increase will be sucked away by the growing competition.

The taxi trade as a viable source of income with good working conditions and hours, is finished.

What's happening now was all predicted at least 10 years ago, when I was a taxi owner and driver? The small minded greedy grasping mentality of your average dim-witted taxi driver, has destroyed what could have been, a great industry to work in.

Anyhoo Gusmac do you agree with my prediction?

I certainly wouldn't argue with it, although it could probably be applied to most of the UK
