Stu, Friday was shi*e. The work just isn’t there. Yes, you can still make money but you’ve got to milk the hours. It’s bloody hard going. There is very little country work and picking a choosing your jobs is becoming a thing of the past. I found myself picking up shi*e just to get money on the meter. It could be said that, I like to pick an choose my fares, but who really wants to pick up shi*?

I think you’ve got a severe does of seeing your world through rose tinted spectacles. You should have gone to specsavers, it would have cost you a lot less than 50K.

This may come as a surprise to you Gary but Fri was actually ok.
Yes it's getting a lot quieter on a Fri and Sat and to quote you here,"the work just isn't there".Now tell us all, what would solve the non eventful weekends then...."more taxi's on the road" :? .I don't know if you realise the extent of which you have contradicted yourself in this post but read it again and it's as plain as the nose on your face."It's bloody hard",now are you saying it would not be "bloody hard"with all the extra taxi's on the road ?."Very little country work",now is that a bad thing, taking into account the price of diesel which you keep reminding us of ?
"i found myself picking up sh*te just to get money",now are you saying you are not providing the public with a service here ?
I don't know what Jim will make of this point giving that he tells us all it is the public who are being let down
Now do you still think it is Stu with the "rose tinted glasses"?
I do look forward to your response here and that what you really meant was...... #-o #-o #-o #-o

It makes you wonder how owners can charge £300+ for a rental now doesn't it?

As for more cabs, I say once again; same driver, same job, driving his own single shifted taxi.

You're not to quick on the uptake are you Saf?

The only ones to suffer are ar*holes like you

I don't know any guys paying "£300+" for a rental,if there are then there must be very few, the average rentals are around the £250 mark.
Obviously you do find things really hard to grasp Gary.Once again this is what would happen,1266 black cabs on the streets, fact.Approx 2 drivers per car at the moment, that would be 2532 drivers, "approx",even if half the drivers who rent a taxi apply ,and get a plate, that would be 633 extra taxis.1266+633=1899.Now as you say, "all these drivers would have their own taxi sitting at the front door doubling as their own car and working the hours to suit and fit around their family".Now this is clearly the difficult bit for you and Jim.1899 taxis all on the road at the same time working the busy periods of the day ie early mornings, lunch time and then the evening rush which i don't know if you have noticed is getting less and less busier. Then you have the Friday and Saturday nights. Now what part of this is hard to understand? Everybody else sees this, and what the outcome would be and that again in case you still don't see the problem here, everybody working longer hours, more days and in return less money.Yes you two halfwits will disagree because it doesn't comply with your hideous little argument.
So again Gary,if this makes me slow on the uptake it must mean that you and Jim have not engaged the two brain cells you have collectively, and got to the starting line yet
Again Gary, absolutely no "suffering" from me,how could there be "suffering",i have nothing to lose. :-$ :-$

Streetcars are £250. By you're mad reckoning that must mean that radio company sets are being given out for nothing.

Hardly likely.

Oh, and when you're calculating radio company rentals, remember to account for the shift that drivers don't get, the friday or the saturday.

That'll take it well over the £300.

Saf, every market finds a balance but usually when the customer demands the service.

Now who the feck wants to sit in a taxi paying a rental for very little return?

Some guys would work 12 hours, others splits, some would work more, others less and some would go out of business - guys like you.

But one things for sure, the fantasy for the radio company plate own would be over. If you wanted a driver the rental would be at a free market rate or the driver would simply put on his own vehicle - same driver, same job his own taxi.

:D

Personally, I would rent from someone with a load of taxis rather than buy one of my own. I can't be bothered with the hassle. :D

The problem is Saf, drivers were never really put here to prop up your little illusion. You would just have to find something else to blow about

The problem would come if the council didn't put in quality controls to restrict the new drivers entering the trade. The increase in supply to the customer would force the council to re-restrict the market meaning we would all go back to buying and selling taxis for an artificial plate value.

We would then punt our plates and reapply forcing the council back into court to de-restrict the market.

SNAFU

All this proves thicko is that you're either not paying attention or you're being selective.

Part of the difficulty is dealing with idiots like you saf.

Its because the trade is filled with idiots that we're losing our market. You've allowed the council to take it from you.

Wrong again Jimbob, the trade is filled with idiots but only ones like you and the other freeloaders.
The funny thing is, you know that we are all correct but you have taken this to far to back down and just confirm to us all that you are this bitter little man with nothing else to live for in his life but to see that the council are wrong.
Newsflash Jim,you are a pathetic little man who has and will continue to have nothing.
Btw,if you want a plate, apparently you can get four for a fiver at Ikea, you might even be able to get matching cups. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

You've only had an increase of 6 taxis in the last 7 years. How is not competing with your competitors protecting your work?

You are not losing work, you're giving it away. You've obviously not been driving that long to come out with shi* like that.

As the competition expands, our work base contracts. The competition then grows stronger as you grow weaker.

The punter then votes with their feet-buses, taxi-buses, Private Hire, Rickshaws and soon to be trams - bye, bye punter ....

It's the driver that props up this trade and your little illusion. I wonder how long it will be before banks stop lending? Could be sooner than you think?

Not that it will matter, the council face a gubbing and another round of applications.

You don't really think the council are protecting your interests do you?

Let me tell you something Saf, the council might not like us but the despise you - you are the shi* on their shoes - a servile ar*e licker out with the plate begging bowl.

If the council didn't have a separate agenda your plate "value" would be history

Oh and btw Saf, if you were so sure of your argument you wouldn't be backward about coming forward. I don't bite.

Feel free to approach me in the street, on the rank or in a coffee shop somewhere. I would love to see you put your argument facet to face.

Oh and before you go down the route that, "I'm threatening you" forget it. I only want to hear your argument over a coffee.

The same goes for anyone else out there? I'll even pay for the coffee.

Taxi buses increased their fares by £1 this week ! thats £18 to haymarket for 2 people ! A good £6 dearer than us ! £ 44 for six passengers ! thats £32 dearer than an E7 ! infact they could get 2 taxis for a lot less !

Can see the punter rushing to use their services !

Oh ! and before I forget, those you chose to discredit, have been busy on the taxibus front and a announcement will follow in due course ! Unlike a certain radio company who have taken the taxibus under their wings !

Haven't heard you say much about that Gary !!!

Ross, you really are a fec*ing ar*e of the highest order. £9 a skull, (pardon the pun) that's still £3-4 cheaper than any taxi carrying one passenger, oh and don't forget that's door to door. How do you thing they market their services to to punter? Oh I know, they tell the punter to get a taxi because it's cheaper.

Perception Sells you clown, it's about creating an illusion. There's idiots out there paying 50K for a plate and it's worth next to feck all.

Now tell me again about why the punter wont pay, it seems to be good enough for someone buying a plate?

Oh and btw, you answer my question about the mercs and I'll more than happily answer your questions about the taxi bus and pinky and perky.
