Well if I remember correctly the £20 would've got me a years membership with the Bolton & Bury HCA, which was asked to come into Preston by some disgruntled drivers who had fallen out with the already established PHCA. The membership would've got me representation from 007 himself if I ever needed it. It was through the cab window stuff by one of his right hand men doing a bit of canvassing. Like sheep, the majority of the drivers followed and handed over twenty notes each.

I refused to join.

Thats fine.....so long as that £20 wasnt a promise of membership of the NTA :D

Well I think it did, actually. The lad asking me if I wanted to join never said anything about the NTA, but upon looking on their website I noticed them claiming to be in the NTA.

Well they aint NTA members anymore.....but the PHCA are....who I understand are doing a pretty decent job.
