Ah, typical HC mentality - as long as we're OK it doesn't matter about the rest, like PH drivers in the Wirral, ie Toots.
Makes no odds to me tbh as the HC and PH work on the same circuit thus making no impact to the pre booked work really. Before derestriction HC worked the roads and their own circuit and PH worked their circuit we all had a share of the market. Since derestriction the market has merged and the only people to benefit are the PH companies that have grown and now consist of 3 main companies and a couple of smaller ones when there used to about 30 small companies that knew all their customers and provided a reliable service with customer waiting at a minimum, now customers could be waiting up to an hour thus ringing all 3 main circuits and getting in the first one to arrive. Imo it's an utter disaster it doesn't improve things for the customer or the driver but the circuit owner is happy, go figure
The Wirral really does seem to be in another world. All those extra cabs on the ranks and you can only get one at the weekend.

All those extra cars on the circuits and waiting times have increased substantially.

An when derestricted, taxi numbers more than tripled then nearly halved in a couple of years.
But I supsect you will be slightly worse off with restricted taxis, Toots, because at the very least new HCs would have been doing a bit of street work, whereas it'll all be pre-booked if they're forced to go PH instead.
You know what it doesn't make sense to me either, we have the new fandangled systems and cars still don't get to customers on time, there are more vehicles on the system and by all accounts less work so I don't understand it either. Clearly this doesn't happen to every customer but it shouldn't be happening very much at all now, it defies logic
