The limit is there to keep the trade healthy, profitable, honest, reliable, manageable, safe, and serviceable with out limits you have the complete opposite.....

So is everyone driving a taxi in the 75% of the country that doesn't restrict destitute? :?

Or are you in the 25% that does restrict unable to cope with the competition? :-k

Why would places that deristrict then want to restrict again, horror of horrors maybe it works ! Blackpool is a very seasonal town so its hard enough. In the words of the council they simply dont want more taxis in the town.Sussex i dont really knownyour agenda, you say you do ok as you are but ultimately you want something more. I doubt its for the good of the trade .

Exactly who is the trade?

Is it the 75% of the taxi trade that doesn't restrict?

Is it the 100% of the PH trade that doesn't restrict?

Is it taxi journeymen, in the 25% that does restrict, who are treated as serfs?

You look after your small loud mouth vested interests, and I will look after the rest.

I wouldn't say the 75% was a truly representational figure tbh - on the whole those areas that have numbers controls are Cities and urban areas of a substantial size.

I wouldn't say the drivers in the 75% are better off than those in the controlled areas.

Experience suggests areas that deregulate end up with a trade where other occupations are sought - there are no figures available as to how many drivers need tax credits due to low incomes - however in my area I know of numerous owner drivers seeking such relief.

There also appears to be a greater reliance upon private hire radio circuits in deregulated areas - and whilst drivers can attempt to start their own there are very few examples of this being successful given the virtual monopoly situation in many areas with PH companies.

What % of the national taxi trade work in London?

IMO 75% is on the lower side.

Once again who are these drivers? Are they owners or jockeys?

Why shouldn't jockeys be able to have their own vehicles? Is that asking too much?

I know of many journeymen down here that need tax credits, but not many owners.
