The Gusmac's of this world are priceless.

With no original thoughts of their own, they swallow the words of their masters and regurgitate them to reinforce their servility.

I don't see any point in arguing with them. They serve no purpose. In fact they are a drain on the planet's resources, consuming everything and offering nothing in return.

I can't see any future for them other than a 9mm injection into the medulla oblongata.

Then the rest of us, freed from the distraction of their stupidity, can work to build a real future.

I only hope that Gusmac's stupidity hasn't cascaded down another generation. His gene pool should be terminated now. It's the only way forward I fear.

Do us a favour Gusmac. Go get yourself sterilised. Then there will be some hope for humanity.

I've never written a review on amazon, I've never felt compelled to, until now...

I've never read such a badly written/structured novel in my life. It reads like it was written by a 14 year old (in a day) with a thesauraus on standby.

The use of language aside (and it really is bad, flitting from cliche to "big words") the plot is awful too. Two "straight" women fall in love at first sight and then, conveniently, each of their current relationships breaks down (you'll love the twist with one of them, so ludicrous it is stomach-turning) so they can live happily ever after with the support and admiration of all their friends/family.

The author goes off on these bizarre tangents too, lecturing on the history of Edinburgh or walking in the highlands which are dull and out of place.

Honestly, if i could be bothered to pull it up on my kindle again, I could lift a quote off every page which shows just how bad this book is. In fact I will, if it saves one person the pain of reading this book:

Ok, so when one of the women is called upon to be a best man at her brother's wedding at the last minute, she gives a toe-curling speech. This is an excerpt:

"When i received this assignment, I wondered how on earth to even begin to do this; and with such little notice too.

Then it occurred to me..just do what Ronnie Corbett would...keep it short.

Those who were aware of the renowned Scottish mirth-maker laughed loudly, as Jill proceeded, 'I regret Doug was cruelly stricken down to pernicious incapacity with influenza,' announcing it and over dramatising his condition.

But we know what he's really got don't we girls?'

A lone female voice in the audience obliged by responding, "Aye, it'll be the man flu.'

Relishing the opportunity given to her, Jill instantly responded to it, 'Didn't quite hear you girls, what has Doug got?' raising her right hand into the air before her as if to orchestrate the response.

'MAN FLU!' was the resounding echo this time as the girls in the audience seized the opportunity to make a point about the men in their life.

The women now clapped enthusiastically, the men less so, but all laughed uproariously...."

And so it goes on...

I can only assume that the other 6 reviewers (on the back of which I bought the book) are the novelist's partner/mother/sister/brother and friends. No-one else could make any positive comments about this absolute pile of [insert appropriate word].

Don't waste your money or your time.

Scotland's problem is that the workers are no ,longer represented. The Labour party has reneged on every vestige of working class decency. Perhaps if Labour in Scotland can bin the odious and incompetent Lamont, and return to its spiritual roots, there mat be a chance.

I dare say it's been eating you up since the author posted it, back on the 14th of December. I only noticed it yesterday, after being prompted to look by your rather shameless plug on here.
Rest assured, if I had written it, I would say so. I don't go in for dirty tricks, Jim.
I'd also have read it first, which I have not. TBH, I couldn't even say if it's a fair critique or not.
I'd certainly have mentioned that the author was not the female that the first few reviewers seem to think, but is a balding male taxi driver who fancies himself as fuhrer of an intellectual **** movement.

If you really want to know who wrote it, I suggest you take off the blinkers, wait for the red mist to part and look a bit closer to home.
I shouldn't think you'd need look any further than the Edinburgh city limits and whomsoever you were rubbing up the wrong way at the time.
