Ok lets say that Newcastle win the case, which I personally can't see happening.

Then all those drivers licensed by Berwick could just go and find another council in another country.

Remember the 1976 Act doesn't apply to vehicles licensed by the 1982 Act. :-$

Just goes to show you the problems with taxi delimitation, things are so quiet in Berwick they have to work elsewhere, needs re-regulation if you ask me

Well it would be interesting to see the SUD survey.

400+ cabs licensed, but only 3 seen working. :D

A council can do what they like, if the courts deem it to be fair and reasonable, in relation to their own licensing conditions.

Can't see how Wrexham can ensure other area's licensed vehicles are type approved. That said how many vehicles are there at present being used as taxi/PH that aren't type approved?

Some of the conversions maybe, but the E7 and the TW200 are fully approved.

I actually agree with you 100% (sh*t thats twice in one day).

Someone needs to stick out their arm, hail one and when an unlicensed vehicle stops charge the driver for no insurance.....about one week would get the message across, I agree 100%.

Well I certainly don't expect that to continue for very long.

I am not familiar with what went on in Wrexham, if you tell me it was something to do with the magistrates court then obviously I will think very little of it. Not until it goes further up the ladder.

Magistrates court. Wrexham Private hire operator taken to court for operating a hackney carriage vehicle not licensed in Wrexham.

That's all Newcastle had to do but they pontificated that much that they made a mountain out of a mole hill.

Lets see if this goes to appeal?

I have a suspicion that this Birmingham magistrates court case may have been mentioned in the Wrexham case. Certainly a case concerning ARROW cars or Taxis. Have you come across a case regarding "arrow" CC?

I reported this one last year but there may be another "arrow" cars case that went higher than the magistrates court and perhaps under a different name?

OPERATORS

Aftab Khan

Pleaded guilty at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 16th September 2005 to 4 offences of operating an unlicensed vehicle and driver and failing to keep appropriate records as required by conditions of the operators's licence. The defendant was the manager of Blue Arrow Cars.

I think we better start a new thread on the Wrexham case.

Regards

JD
