The worst thing you can have is advertising on Hackney's as by natural justice the council would not be able to refuse advertising on private hire... and when that happens watch them grow..... just an afterthought..

Have you tried sitting available for hire at places they frequent freephones?

That annoys the hell out of them.

that's just it CC, they sit near taxi ranks, not in any particular location.
Picture the scene,

There's a rank outside a pub for four cars (ok 6 or more on fri/sat). It's at the end of a cul-de-sac (I kid you not), 50 yds or so down from it is a kwik-fit with a forecourt. The pub is kicking out, the taxis have gone (soon to be replaced, but who with a drink in them wants to wait 5-10 mins?) The punters start wandering down the street, and lo and behold there's 3 or more cars with plates on the back, meters and business cards in the dash, and drivers with white shirts with a company name on them. Do they ignore them and walk on? Or more likely walk over and say " For Hire, pal?" Does the PH driver say "I'm sorry I'm waiting on a booking, try the rank up the road" or "What's your name and I'll book one for you, the now, in ye get"

That was my story, last meeting. Not one proprietor denied the possibility of it happening. The LO just looked disinterested. So again, no chance of annoying them, that way.

I don't mean to be picky again, but, in all seriousness these punters are not going to see what's inside the car until they are inside it. Most punters don't even realise I'm female until they get into the vehicle. At least the taxis there actually have a rank to sit on outside the pub cos here they sit anywhere they please and ply their trade and guess what, the LO is just totally disinterested. It's par for the course and if we were all making a decent living I guess none of us would be bothered what the other was doing. It doesn't help that the customer doesn't care either way cos they just want to get home

All true, toots. I was slightly overstating the scene, for effect, and of course the punters don't give a toss, they're on the way home or to the Tartell, so who, besides us, cares? Answer, no-one.

Looks like Harvey got what he wanted

We have recieved our letter and agreement from Derby City Council now stating we are allowed to work with the mobile booker. WE MEET ALL STANDARDS SET BY THE COUNCIL. Just need to replace the drivers that i lost due to the licencing offices handling of my business.
Don't worry the market will not be saturated with moble bookers because its more complicated than it looks, rather than just buying a car and getting your mates to help out. WE ARE HERE TO STAY, Derby is big enough to support us all.
