A slave lives in fear dipstick, it is that, what makes you a slave. The fear of losing £1205 (non-returnable) stops people from applying - what don't you understand?

You've got to have big balls to risk that kind of money when you've a family to feed - especially now.

Wouldn't you say CC ?

I hardly think refering to a person who dips oil is particularly poingant here.

Why dont you question the fee if you and skippy have an issue with it?

ffs, does it take the english to point out the obvious?

CC

Yes, that might be the case but when you consider that most people are emasculated by the system, it's a tall order.

You can only fight so many battles before spreading yourself too thin, on the behalf of others . . . .

I'd have thought that would have been the first battle?

I think we've made some progress in that department but the herd are enured - you need at least a "credit crunch" to wake people out of their credit induced slumber.

Chipper me lad. I'm glad you understand about the nature of what I write.

I do so out of contempt for those the comments are aimed at.

When I began the campaign I believed that politicians were reasonable people, elected to serve the public and bound to conduct themselves in a fair and equitable manner.

Experience has shown me that there are vast swathes of them who are little more than careerist, control freak reprobates. The remainder are apathetic, keep their heads down, collect their expenses, and squirm their way up the political career ladder types.

None of these are worthy of respect.

i understand what you are saying but would you not agree that it would be better to conduct yourself to a higher standard than them rather than attck them in the way you do and not drag yourself to gutter level or that of small kids shouting insults at each other in the play ground. i would bet you would get a lot further than you have with the council and trade

the only way to change the people in power is by voting them out why not stand for ellection and replace them.

You fail to understand the power of the system. To join them would be to be subsumed by them. It is not possible to engage with them on their terms. You would become one of them, and lose.

I'm afraid that the problem is the system is in itself the problem. It has been gripped by the power of vested interest, it can't be changed from within.

It has to be destroyed from the outside, shown to be the self-serving corruption of power it has become and shamed into taking action.

I can't respect these people, they truly are scumbags, that is undeniable.

They know it. They know that I know it.

Remember that all we are campaigning for is the London Model. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Tell me why that is so difficult to achieve in Edinburgh? Why it is so when three quarters of local authorities already adopt the model?

Why has it been necessary for the campaign to reach this level?

And then remember, I tried to play the representative game. I garnered the support of 157 like minded soulds in a short time. A considerable achievement. That was until the council deliberately created division in the ranks. And the trade deliberately created division in the ranks.

basically I had my nuts cut off by those whom I trusted. They worked their own personal interest, the organisation was broken.

You can't play these games with these people. It just doesn't work.

So, in common with historical experience, more direct action has proven to be necessary.

The simple truth is that the campaign can disappear tomorrow. If the release of the significant demand information was truly an attempt to rectify the situation, and the council intends to de-restrict the trade, peace could break out immediately.

We build the trade, the council gets on with its job of regulating it.

That's as it should be. It's not the council's job to interfere in markets.
