Taxi driver threatened with shotgun

Police are investigating an incident in which a Bradford taxi driver feared for his life when a double-barrel shotgun was pointed at him.

Yaqoob Mohammed, 54, who works for Haworth-based Bronte Taxis, was left frightened and shaken by the incident on a remote stretch of road near the former Herder’s pub between Stanbury and Colne.

His passenger had insisted he keep driving until Mr Mohammed eventually stopped and asked for the fare. The man said he had no money, but went into a house and re- emerged with a double-barrel shotgun, which he pointed at him and threatened to kill him.

Mr Mohammed escaped by driving off, leaving the door hanging open.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation is underway into the alleged incident. A man was arrested at the time but later released. However, our inquiries are still very much ongoing.”
