Do they ever approach the clipboard boys to see if they get offered a cab? |

Not sure about the west end, but the area I work(shoreditch) about every six months. TBH, there are not enough TOCU officers to cover the whole of london. |

I don't know about the west end specifically but they have revoked about 30 PH driver licences based on convictions for touting since 1 August (when they introduced the rule) and no taxi drivers. I'ts a start but we all know they could nick 30 a night quite easily if time and funds allowed!

I believe they have arrested so many touts that the Magistrates at Horseferry Road have asked them to consider more cautions as the court cannot cope. Of course closing Bow Street, Clerkenwell and Wells Street Mags courts really helps in situations like this.

As long as they lose their licenses via the 'tout and your out' policy, then I can't see why a caution shouldn't be offered. |

How many people do you know who have had a caution for driving with no insurance?, because that's what touting is. Open the courts on a sat and sun. |

Have you ever considered putting up for a seat on the board of TFL. You'd get my vote.

They tried an experiment with an American style night court in 1997 in the now closed Bow Street Mags court. The trial ended, but was not considered a success as there was difficulty gaining enough legal reps who were prepared to be in court at 3am on a Sunday morning. Plus half the defendants were not in a fit state to offer a plea or understand the proceedings. |

Open the courts on a sat and sun. Many mags court are open Saturday, but the insurance issue only comes into effect when the punters get in and off the driver goes. But I go back to the 'one tout and your out' policy. Get that working and it will stop most of the touts. |

Methinks some people think it's a good idea...for financial reasons. Meanwhile the touts continue to run circles around the taxi trade bound by too many laws and by laws which the enforcement authorities do not fully comprehend. |

Sounds as though TOCU are playing their part well. Good Luck to them. Shame the Courts don't back them up, they'd get rid of most of the problem in no time. |

They're playing there part..............no so sure about the "well" part though; 30 licences revoked since August 1st 2008 is a start but is not a great deal when you consider the scale of the problem in London though i'm sure a bit of that is contributable to lack of court time and funding. Here's hoping for a great many future sucesses
