Free-for-all taxi territory as three zones to join Plans to amalgamate the three Hackney Carriage zones in the Royal Borough into one were given the go ahead at a full council meeting last night. The amalgamation will take effect from midnight on January 14. Currently the three zones are centred in Maidenhead, Windsor and an area outside the two town centres, largely based around Ascot station taxi rank. The change will mean Hackney Carriage drivers will be able to pick up fares throughout the Royal Borough instead of just one zone. |

And I'm sure all those cabs licensed in the sticks will receive a nice warm welcome into the towns.
