TESCO Hit By Taxi Dispute

SHOPPERS at a busy Greenock supermarket are being left out in the cold because of a dispute involving taxi operators and Tesco.
Inverclyde Taxis have stopped serving the store in Dalrymple Street leading to long delays for customers trying to get home.

The situation look set to continue following the release today of statements from Inverclyde Taxis and Tesco.

A spokesman for Inverclyde Taxis said: “There has been a longstanding arrangement over some 14 years with various Tesco management teams and this has been broken without warning.

“Since the re-location to Dalrymple Street we have conceded to excessive demands by incurring the cost for a car park marshall.

“We have attempted to meet the Tesco management to resolve the dispute as serving our customers is our paramount objective but we have been informed that no Tesco management members will be available until some time next week.”

A spokesman for Tesco said: "We're as puzzled as anyone as to why taxis are no longer using the rank. We have no contract with any taxi firm and we allow free use of the taxi rank for firms that will provide a good service to our customers and it is a shame they are being inconvenienced at the moment.

"The reason for cars no longer appearing has nothing to do with the store -- we would welcome them back at any time."

Strange, I recall an incident at a Carlisle TESCO store where a taxi was told to get off their land as he didnt have a booking and a PH firm had the freephone!

Tesco hate taxis and PH full stop unless you install a free phone you have no chance of ranking there
A reply from customer services

Thank you for your e-mail addressed to Sir Terry Leahy, our Chief Executive to which I have been asked to respond.

I was concerned to learn that you are unhappy with the car park facilities provided at our Galashiels Extra store.

I have spoken with Craig Nichols, Customer Service Manager and he has informed me that the car park has been under construction. There will be new signage displayed around the car park this week to help our customers find their way around.

The store unfortunately does not have any plans to provide spaces for a taxi rank.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us. I would like to thank you for shopping with us, and I hope that we may look forward to your continued and valued custom in the future.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting TES3197596X.

Kind Regards

Seems like a good reason to bin Tesco.

But they do sell Boschendaal Lanoy. And it's always at a good price too.

Do I have to bin them? Really?

:?

When you write to any "Customer Care" dept not be under the impression that they are going to do anything for you, they are nothing more than a buffer zone designed to wear you down and to also make the claim that they have responded to you.

You have just had the bog standard "f*ck off and leave us alone" response.

They, like tesco must provide a rank as part of the planing aplication, we just rank up in the pick up point outside the front door, they have recently tried to get us out by letting premier taxis install a free phone and they informed every one that this company was the only one that could sit there.
We just refuse to move and tell them to complain to the council and not us, they in turn will be told that the rank is official :D
