Will this be the end of the old dodgers? Or the 'never had an accident yet caused 100s' brigade? :?

Ten yearly test proposal

Seems a bit daft..in one breath they say its going to cost £80 to sit a health test and then in the next breath they say that those that don't want to and who are found to be under the Subscribed limit of fitness are Guilty of a Criminal offence!.....sounds like nothing much has changed as this test is not Compulsory and as thing are if your driving with sub standard eyesight for example your comitting an offence even in these times.

Besides..if you chose not to sit the proposed health check and opt to save yourself £80 quid how in gods name can they come back and say ahhhh!! but you werent fit to drive as you you dont have the Optional certificate of health to allow you to drive...they could never ever prove at what point your level of fitness changed from being a fit and healthy driver to an unfit and unhealthy driver...its just plain stupid and ill thought out.

its either a Compulsory test or it isnt..if it is to be compulsory then it ought to be a free health check otherwise its another bloody stealth tax on britains 31 million motorists...

Do the Maths...say we sit 5 of these tests in a life time of driving.

5 times £80 = £400 X 31,000,000 uk drivers =£1,240,000,000.00 over Fifty years....now is that 12.4 Billion or am I wrong...thieving Labour Gits..

and that dont even take into account Inflation..

Going by the standards of Melrose drivers half the town will be off the roads TF :D

Just think of the potential extra business, even though pensioners have bus passes, in some rural areas like ours the busses are limited

I can see the quote from Clarkson now,
MAN WITH RED FLAG MADE REDUNDANT :D :D :D

Anyone who chooses not to take the tests but declares themselves able to take to the roads will be committing a criminal offence if they fail to meet the established standards.

You can bet you're bottom dollar that HC/PH drivers will not have a choice in this it will become mandatory to keep your badge.

Apart from which it's not so much peoples health that makes them a danger it's more their ability to drive and the bad habits they pick up as they go along that makes them dangerous. If you are going to make drivers sit tests it should actually be a driving test and not a health test. It's as people say just another stealth tax that they are hoping we are too blind to see. It's just another crock of boll** :x
