It seems the secretary of York Taxi association has been replaced and lots of drivers are no longer talking to him, he is being blamed for all that is wrong with the trade in general, perhaps they should look back and remember what he did for them in the past, lets have a look in a years time and see if his replacement is as good.

Understand that the new secretary is one of the new plates issued last year. If people weren't happy with the old secretary why didn't they get on the committeee and see what actually happens.
BTW any news on the court case in York, its all gone very quiet on that front

I spoke to the old secretary last night, apparently he went to the blokes house in the very early days along with the other guy who was going to oppose everything, and invited them both to a meeting to discuss the colour thing with them and the guy who is now fighting it never turned up to the invited meeting, the other guy did and saw sense and dropped the case, now Mr Browne is looking for £100 off every driver if he loses so he can appeal at crown, the new Secretary has also been to see him and once again help has been declined.

And is he up for more plates being issued, or for the gates to be shut? 8-[

no you got something mixed up

in or around 2006 a meeting was held with the old secretary of the association, together with his now live in lover, the lady taxi driver, both invited Head of Licencing over for dinner and for drinkies at her house, without knowledge of the taxi association what was going to be discussed

the whole idea was conjured up in that kitchen that York taxis would be one colour plus Council door stickers,

not only that, the York taxi driver who is challenging the colour scheme, is unable to get the minutes of the council chamber meeting who decided that the colour to be black, been told no minutes of council meeting are availabe as a virus attack on the councils computor wiped out that file of the meeting [just the one file!!!!!!!!!] and no back up was made

but they better start looking for it they'll need it for the court case

i have heard that he visited a taxi solicitor in Birmingham, has the backing of a Transport minister for his case, York taxis Ass. joins the NTA sometime this week, legal will be available for him if he requires, but rumour has it he wants to go alone, cant think why he thinks like that or he's bluffing till last thing

there isn't much time now all taxis to be black and tested by June 1, if the case gets adjourned, more than likely by council getting it adjurned to another date it will then be too late

He could ask the court not to let the council go ahead with there proposals until after the case or take out an injunction

Any judgement no matter when it is given or at what stage of the application, will be deemed to be the decision of the court, subject to any further appeal?

In other words in most cases, time is meaningless where the law is concerned.
