| Post subject: | Limo Safety Meeting in Birmingham |
Limo safety meet over import fears SAFETY issues surrounding limousine hire will be discussed at a meeting in Birmingham after a rise in the number of imported vehicles which do not meet British standards. West Midlands traffic commissioner Nick Jones will meet with a representative of the stretched limousine trade association and local authorities from across the country to look at ways of tackling safety. There are major concerns that a growing number of imported vehicles do not meet British regulations. Mr Jones said: “Traffic commissioners are responsible for regulating PSV operators and stretched limousines have proved a difficult issue both for traffic commissioners and local authorities for a number of years. “These are substantial vehicles which can be as long as a bus and, as many of them are imported, they may not meet GB safety standards. The meeting, which is invite only, takes place at Birmingham City Football Ground on February 4. |

If they a like many I have seen as long as a bus why not make the driver take a PSV test, and class limos as PSVs They could then be the responsibility of VOSA |

As far as I am aware no-one in the Limousine industry has been invited to this shindig,( by invite only) I have to wonder why this is and why ( seeing as Yellow Pages can give them a ready list of interested operators ) they seem to have by bypassed anyone who has a genuine interest in the subject. Its a bit like not being consulted on a planning request for a building thats going to affect you ! |

OH I am lad, if councils cannot cope with keeping them on the strait and narrow it would be better if they where made PSVs. and tested at the VOSA test stations where they have much better facilities Just because your council have licenced yours as PH does not mean that others have, even ours had to be informed about the 4 that run around here but they still have not taken any action |

Very few can get a coif because amongst other things the doors are not big enough. Go go back and do your homework properly. |

It could be done with a restricted PSV licence or a new category, IE special events licence, but all vehicles must go through the PSV test and all drivers, If this was done those that have more than 8 seats could then use the empty ones up to a max 16 |

Why do they need to fight for anything? You comply, what can't others?
