A taxi driver has lost his licence after pleading guilty to drink driving.

Terrance Wigham (46) appeared before Lincoln magistrates yesterday after being stopped by the police in the city's Riseholme Road on December 11th.

A blood test revealed that Wigham, of Ermine Close, Lincoln, had 93mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the legal limit being 80mg.

Mark McNeil in mitigation said Wigham had drunk two pints and believed he was fit to drive.

"He had been out the night before for a few drinks" he said.

"He had not eaten on the day in question, so the two pints could have topped the alcohol up"

"his licence is precious to him" as he needs it to work.

Wigham who rents a car from Handsome cabs was banned for 12 months.

He was fined £85 plus £60 costs and the £15 victim surcharge.

His licence wasn't that precious to him, it would seem.

Replace the 'is' with 'was'.
