New stretch limo regulations NEW regulations have been brought in to license stretch limousines on New Forest roads. New Forest District Council has agreed that licensing should take place in a bid to regulate the hiring of the vehicles. A large proportion of the card, which can carry entertainment systems and minibars, have been operating unlicensed due to their unique design. The general purposes and licensing committee of New Forest District Council carried out a consultation to formulate a suitable licensing policy for limousine operators. The committee has agreed to license them as private hire vehicles, with additional conditions to ensure the safety of passengers. The move follows guidance from the Department of Transport encouraging local authorities to consider the private hire licensing of limousines that can carry up to eight passengers and a driver. I would imagine the number of stretch limos in the New Forest could be counted on one hand. But at least they are trying to sort out a problem that maybe the credit crunch has solved.

What problem would that be then Sussex? My bookings are over 70% up on last year.

I would like to think that this is the case but it must be at least 3 years since a potential customer has asked if I am licensed.

But they now don't have as much unlicensed choice, and maybe one day they will have no unlicensed option. |

I would imagine there's a fair amount of trade available in all three areas if a NFDC based operator got his marketing right. |
