dont know why they are complaining, all they have to do is put their old cars in for a brand new electric vehicle, they get at least £2,000 for their old one. Then they run around York in their electric powered vehicle, costing about £15 a year road tax, hardly anything for petrol, if they get a hybrid model. so why are we hearing about the hardship of these taxi drivers,It will save them money in the long run and they wont have to worry about the petrol prices, problem solved. Now stop whinging cabbies and buy electric cars.

Consultants said average waiting times had fallen, and they estimated there were now fewer taxis and passengers.

They said that in 2008, 11,613 taxis left the Clifford Street, St Saviourgate and Rougier Street ranks each week, carrying 19,758 people; but said that had now fallen to 7,195 taxis carrying 11,211 people.
