Public Carriage Office revokes three private hire licences 05 May 2009 Month long operation outside West End nightclubs cracks down on illegal taxi touts. Transport for London (TfL), the Metropolitan Police (Met) and Westminster City Council (WCC) have joined forces to tackle West End taxi touts in nine high visibility operations around Charing Cross Road in the past month. The PCO delivered three notices of licence revocation on Thursday 30 April. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/n ... 11614.aspx |

All very welcomed, but will they now patrol those clubs to make sure the touts aren't carrying on?

If they did it every weekend, they probably would not need to do it on such a scale. |

All thanks to the LTDA / LCDC / UNITE pressure, plus the video that was put together. http://www.ltda.co.uk/video/ The situation at the moment is heart warming, to see real Taxis ranking up at these venues and sticking two fingers up at the 'taxee boss?' crew is a sight for sore eyes. I've started to switch my light off and head to one of the venues, the quality of work can be surprising at times, which make one wonder just how much money the asylum seekers have been screwing the punters for up to now? I just hope the momentum continues as the workload goes up. I also have great faith in the new boss of the TFL Police wing, Mr Royale, to continue the enforcement process on these main area's of illegal touting. |
