Taxi driver in agony after horror mugging

A TAXI driver who was mugged as he lay in agony with a broken leg had to drag his broken body along a road for 20 minutes before help arrived. Samim Ahmed worked for eight years as a taxi driver in Manhattan without incident but after a year in Cambridge was subjected to a horrific ordeal.

He begged the four thieves for help after falling down a pothole and breaking his leg - but instead they rifled through his pockets, threatened to kill him and left him for dead. The 38-year-old, who is employed by Panther Taxis, was cruelly set upon by the men after he fell down a pothole and broke his leg.

The mugging happened in Ditton Walk just after midnight on Sunday. Mr Ahmed had picked up the men in Rock Road, dropping them off in Ditton Walk. He said: "They asked me to go to several places first and then we got to Ditton Walk.

They asked me to help them carry some beer and said they would get my money at the house. "But I fell into a huge hole. My leg was hanging off by a bit of skin. I begged them to help me but they just said 'Where's your money?'.

"I was helpless so I just had to let them do what they wanted. They took £180 from my pocket. Then they told me that if I called the police they would kill me. "They ran off and left me for dead. I managed to pull myself up and then drag myself on my backside along the road for about 20 minutes. It was absolute hell.

"I thought no one would find me and I would die in the street. But a woman came along and helped me and then the ambulance came." He said: "They have to put bolts in my leg to hold it together. I cannot believe this has happened to me. I drove a Yellow Cab in New York for eight years and nothing like this ever happened. I am here for just over a year and I end up in hospital."

Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses. Detective Constable Charlie McCabe, investigating, said: "These men took advantage of an injured man and instead of helping attacked and stole from him. "This was a callous crime and it is vital we catch the men responsible. "I would urge anyone with information about this attack to get in touch."

One of the men is described as white, between 16 and 20, with short dark hair and facial stubble. He was wearing jeans and a black and white striped T-shirt. Anyone with information on the recent attack should contact Det Con McCabe at Parkside police station on 0845 456 4564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Welcome to Britain.

The cesspool of Europe.

Smells like community service if they get caught, shame the charge won't be....FAILURE TO AID YOUR FELLOW MAN...not even an anon bell from a phone box, still they probably had poor childhoods and needed the money for some weed so we shouldn't look down on em too much should we.

There is little or no consequence for actions these days and they wonder why people have no respect. Bring back the birch that's what I say
