‘Psychic taxi’ £5k tip

A COUPLE stand to win £5,000 if a clairvoyant cabbie’s prediction of the exact time their baby is born comes true.

Nurse Charlotte Williams, 18, got into his taxi just after her pregnancy had been confirmed by a scan.

The cabbie said: “You’re expecting a baby” — and at that stage she was not even showing a bump.

He then said the tot was due on August 9 — which is the date she had just been given by her gynaecologist.

The mystic cabbie then went on to tell her the baby would be born five days late, at 11.10am on August 14.

Charlotte and her partner Tony Penwarden, 21, have staked £5 at 1,000-1 with bookies William Hill that the baby arrives within ten minutes of that time.

They have also staked £30 at 14-1 on the baby being born at any time on August 14, which would win them £420.

Charlotte said in Nottingham: “I was dumbstruck when he said I was pregnant.

“It was even more spooky when he came out with the exact predicted date. There’s no way he could have known that. He also said it would be a boy — and we don’t know the sex.” Tony said: “The cabbie said he ‘knew about these things’.

“If Charlotte and I win we’ll put the money in a savings account for the baby.”

Tony added: “She uses the same cab firms regularly — and she’s not seen this driver since.

A William Hill spokesman said: “We’re spooked. We don’t want him revealing the Grand National winner.
