It is with immense sadness that I have to report that TDO's own sage JD passed away last month.

JD helped more taxi/PH drivers directly, and indirectly through TDO, than most of the trade's unions/association combined.

At times he might have been a little abrupt ( ), but unlike most in this trade at least you knew where you stood with him.

TDO members come and go, and then come back again, but no-one will ever replace my dear friend JD.

May he rest in peace.

RIP my old adversary

We've had numerous dialogues, spats, throwing toys out of the pram moments.....and good advice, and very good Pm's on a professional and personal basis......I'm going to miss him, and feel guilty as hell now for not meeting him!

One meets some nice, genuine people walking through this short life and although, i never had the pleasure, i'm sure JD would have been one of them.

May you rest in peace JD....

I've learned a lot from you JD and so have many others.
This trade is definitely the poorer for your passing.
Thanks for everything.

RIP JD

I'm gutted

Jesus.

I'll be honest and say I didn’t think he was a 'person' as such, merely a username that some legally minded folks used.

Who was the real person behind ‘JD’ then?

I hope St Peter doesn't start a debate on numbers entering through the pearly gates.

Be lucky pal.

There are many folks driving their own cabs thanks to JD.

There are many folks paying lower fees thanks to JD.

There are loads of councils that now check the law a bit more thoroughly, before bringing in new rules, thanks to JD.

There are a lot more drivers aware of their rights when dealing with councils thanks to JD.

Like me he wasn't perfect, but he always helped when asked.

I will miss him, and I hope his family are well.

Sx

I never really had much to do with JD. I have to admit I found some of his replies quite intimidating. His knowledge of the taxi industry was far greater than I could comprehend or for that matter possibly achieve. I wish his family peace at this time and JD a peaceful sleep

What a shock!

I've read the forums for a few years, even though only joined last year. I was happy to remain as an "observer" and to be fair....debating with JD may have proved to be a painful experience anyway!

What I can say, is that JD's level of knowledge was highly impressive, as was the way that he offered accurate factual advice to those needing it, along with a hint of opinion, to people on "all sides" of the taxi/PH/dereg debates (and councils too).

My knowledge of him, as many others may also find of him, was limited to a user name and his many posts, but I offer my heartfelt respect to him and condolences to his family. He will be missed.

JD, Rest in Peace.

Can't say I always agreed with his opinions and methods, but he had a huge breadth of knowledge and must have expended a huge amount of time on the forum and the stuff he produced.

RIP - a sad loss to the trade.
