Post subject:  Starbucks - Tozzers
Recently, British Royal Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they
wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to
request that they send some of it to the troops there.

Starbucks replied, telling the Royal Marines thank you for their
support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war,
nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand
of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT
buying any of their products!

I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be
very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support
the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again
when I deploy once more.

We have one shop that has had a picket outside every Saturday for the last few years.

I swore back a couple of months ago never to go in one again, COFFEE, COFFEE more like dirty warm dish water. Trust me it was not the price as I do not mind paying a couple of quid for the real stuff, but you would have had a job telling what it was.

Never mind the war - fug um!

Once again, there is confusion over supporting the WAR or supporting our lads who get sent to fight, the two are totally different.

Shocking attitude by Starbucks.
Many of us don't support or even understand what the war is about.
That doesn't mean we can't support our troops, who are doing a difficult and dangerous job at the behest of our elected representatives.
If they disagree with the war, they should take it out on them and refuse to serve the members of parliament who took us to war in the first place.
Not penalise the squaddies who are "doing and dying", as they have always done when called upon..

OMG I hate it when stupid things like this happen. Cos the boys sacrifice sooooooooo much I will of course sacrifice my Starbucks white chocolate mocha :cry:

I have to agree that it's disgusting they should be treated in such a manner by any company. I'm sure Starbucks will be quite happy that the lads fought in these battles when they've stuck they're western ar$e firmly in these countries at a later date :roll:

Thank you for contacting Starbucks Coffee Company.

Recently, you may have heard mention of an old rumor concerning Starbucks support of military personnel. This rumor originated in the U.S. but has been modified and is now circulating throughout the UK. On behalf of Starbucks more than 160,000 dedicated partners (employees), we wanted to set the record straight

I would like to reassure you that the rumour referred to is both old and inaccurate. The rumour is not, and never has been, true. It refers to false information contained in an email that originated in 2004. At that time, Starbucks contacted its author, a Marine Sergeant who subsequently sent an e-mail to his original distribution list correcting his mistake. He has granted us permission to use this and I paste it here for your reference;

"Dear Readers,

Almost 5 months ago I sent an e-mail to you my faithful friends. I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all. I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have. This is not true. Starbucks supports men and women in uniform. They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue. So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.

Now I ask that you all pass this email around to everyone you passed the last one to.

Thank you very much for understanding about this.

If they feel that strongly, perhaps they should do a proper press release with the author of the original letter to set the record straight.

I see nothing on their web site to the contrary.

I applaud Starbucks for their stance. I just don't see how you can oppose the war but support the troops, soldiers are not innocent bystanders and have blood on their hands, no soldiers, no war.

The original post says "British Royal Marines"

Never seen "British" tagged onto the RM title, there IS only one "Royal Marines" outfit in the world....
