New Taxi Ranks For Banbury 14th July 2009 New taxi ranks could be coming to Banbury following a surge in Hackney carriage licence applications. Plans are being considered to provide extra taxi rank space in Bridge Street, Horse Fair and North Bar as a result of Cherwell District Council scrapping its limit on taxi driver numbers in October 2007. Since the limit was scrapped, Cherwell's 84 licensed drivers have increased 45 per cent to 122, placing huge pressure on taxi ranks. Source; banburyguardian.co.uk |

I just wish the same would happen in Brum. Getting new ranks is a nightmare; it should be a statutory duty for councils to provide taxi ranks at locations where there is a high probability of the general public requiring to instantly hire a cab. |
