Middlesbrough Taxi Driver Jailed After Drug Sting

A taxi driver who was caught selling Class A drugs to passengers has been jailed.
Nadeem Ibrahim, 33, of Oxford Road, Middlesbrough, did not realise those customers riding in his cab were undercover police officers, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Patricia Mancina told the court Ibrahim had picked the officers up from Wolviston in July last year and agreed to supply cocaine.
He gave his phone number and twice supplied the drug, the court heard.
On a third occasion Ibrahim agreed to get the undercover cops cocaine but then rang back to say he was unable to.
Ibrahim pleaded guilty to two charges of supplying a Class A drug and one charge of offering to supply a Class A drug. The court heard he had no previous convictions.
David Lamb, defending, said his client was a hard-working dad-of-three who had been struggling with mortgage repayments.
“This defendant comes cap in hand asking the court to give him a chance,” said Mr Lamb. “He has made a mistake which is not likely to be repeated.
Judge Tony Briggs jailed Ibrahim for two years and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
