It turns out that Dundee's test is not as beefed up as has been previously said. Under the foi 42 persons have passed the test from Nov 2008. The trade had thought that only 4 had passed the new test. But the council have not been advertising that new badge holders on there website ( the baxtards).

the council advertised the names of sucsesfull badge applicants who never went through 203020,there was only a handfull ,it seems you can request that your name is not included on the list , aparantly 203020 have done this |

The council have said that the now have a 3 person committee that looks at applications. They have decided that if there is no objections then they will not go on the committee agenda.Yes you are right 203020 drivers go through this process but an individual application has to go in front of the committee. It is now common knowledge that 203020 have the new test sheets and are getting drivers throw that do not have a scobbie. |

As you my be aware i am on the DTA committee and i can assure you that Graeme made no such request in fact at the next liaison we have requested that not only do they have the names of applicants on the council web site but also any one that is in front of the disciplinary committee should be named and the public should now what action has been taken. That is one of a number of things that is wrong with the Dundee taxi trade, That there is a lot of miss information. I appreciate you putting me right on other matter. |

"Trade representatives are well aware of the procedures, as they have lodged numerous objections to applications for taxi licences over the past six years. The perception seems to be this time that the applications for taxi licences lodged by 203020 were not dealt with in the usual manner. These applications were lodged on 12th July, placed in the public register the same day and dealt with by the Committee on 16th August. Trade representatives did not attend at the Council offices during this period to check the register. Had they done so, they would have been in a position to object." http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/minutes/fu ... g_ref=3541 That was about vehicle licenses, not drivers. Remember when 203030 lost their taxi licences and there were accusations that the PH licences were fast-tracked? That's what that was all about and doesn't really have any ongoing significance. |

cheers for pointing that out dundonian i was rushing through the minutes and missed the info,i wonder how many times we could have used the phrase (203020 were not dealt with in the usual manner)maybe the dundee taxi trade could have a competition ,it has to be in high double numbers, ill go for 89,going back to my 2nd last post was graham stephens asking for the names to be excluded or included?remember they were already being posted on the council website which makes it even more confusing |

Don't really know, Dundee wav, maybe he wanted the whole licensing register on the web all the time so that it could be readily checked without trudging down to City Square, but from the wording used in the minutes it's not wholly clear what's being talked about. |

The Agenda for forth cumming liaison meeting 18 Aug With regard to the DTA items we met today with the Convener and Depute Convener and I can confirm that the licensing of taxi and private hire offices, advertising on private hire cars and taxi ranks and signage are on the agenda. Your item regarding disclosure of the identity of licence holders appearing before the Licensing Committee at suspension hearings etc is not competent as it would be a breach the Data Protection Act 1998 were we to do as you request. In the circumstances the item will not be on the agenda. The question of the trade being made aware of new licences granted is however competent and will be placed on the agenda. As regards corporate licences and limiting numbers we have previously agreed that we should await the outcome of the national consultation before looking at local policy issues and both of the above will be an integral part of the discussion following the receipt of the consultation report. Discussion just now would be premature so they will not be placed on the agenda. You have our assurance however that they will be discussed at the appropriate time Regards Stuart Galloway |

That's what our council has just introduced for contracts, |
