Post subject:  city and centals survey of demand LOL
well seems nothing has been learned the 2 edinburgh radio companies have commisioned napier uni to debunk the halcrow survey.

money down the pan.
all that matters is the halcrow report.
the council iether adopt the recommendations of the halcrow survey or they dont!

if they do its a minimum of 30 plates

if they dont then they cant deny any applications

these clowns at crt/city dont seem to put thier minds in gear.

anderson fyfe must be pashing themselves at the desperation of these clowns.

1. The halcrow report can't seem to differentiate between phc and black cabs. Especially when it comes to wheelchair access

2. The halcrow report uses waiting times and figures from the waverlet and airport. Both are on private ground and have private fees. More taxis doesn't mean a lesser waiting time as the new cabs may not want a Waverley permit. And especially the airport waiting tines were you have to be a member of city or central

im not a big fan of surveys you can poke holes in them all day.
read my post above.
it seems crt/city commitee members dont have much grasp of the legislation,and have once again poured members money down the drain,and probably without thier consemt or even knowledge

I don't know what Scots best practise says, but ours say;

Financing of surveys.

It is not good practice for surveys to be paid for by the local taxi trade (except through general revenues from licence fees). To do so can call in question the impartiality and objectivity of the survey process.

Halcrow will win in any court action.

I'm in agreement with Ali T, as I hate surevys as well, but Halcrow will have an answer for everything.

That said I hope Halcrow are made to look stupid, as then the council will have no independent evidence to stop anyone applying, for a 1000 plates if they so want. :shock:

and thats whats so funny these guys think there stopping derestriction when in fact they may ultimitly bring it about.

the truth of the matter hasnt sunk in.
the current applications will be granted if not by the council then by the courts at first calling with no leave to appeal,my guess the council has broken and they will be granted on friday,but we will see,weve all seen how dense councils can be.though i doubt even they(cec) can deny it this time

I don't know how there can be no unmet demand up there I was in George st, 3 times on Saturday night and there was more folk in 100 yards than the whole of Galashiels
While I was waiting i was turning runs down faster than they could ask :shock:

IMO the interested party list is merely a list of people interested, and has no legal standing.

If you, or anyone else, wants a plate you must apply for it, not apply to go on a list of interested people.

The law is quite simple. You apply for a plate, you either get it or you don't. If you are refused then the council needs up-to-date survey information saying there is no unmet demand.

The council don't have that, they have a survey which says there is unmet demand. IMO the first 30 to apply will get plates.

as sussex say's the ipl has no standing in law period!
an application is iether granted or not,it cant be deffered indefinetly by the council and put onto a list for ressurection later :lol:

if 30 ppl apply before anyone on the ipl gets an invite and subsequently applies then the plates thiers.

gotta feeling it may well be more than 30 though.

what you witnessed was only like that as august and festival time, Edinburgh is influxes with tourists and people visiting the Edinburgh festival.

Come September. Visit Edinburgh on a Saturday and you'll see that those numbers are at least halved.

Its like that every Thurs Fri and Sat, all year round as I come up there 3 or 4 times nearly every weekend at some point.
Most times I see loads of cabs parked up at Esso Little France at around 3 AM or other filling stations
