I've just received news that the 30 members of the Railway Union plan to drive round and round the Hogarth Roundabout on the A4 tomorrow at around 3pm.

This is apparently as a protest against Addison Lee vehicles illegally using the offside Bus Lane on the M4 eastbound.

This has to be the worse advertised demo to date, it was only by chance the 'Norm' (Londoncabbie) found a scrap piece of A4 paper stuffed into a trade paper down the hot air factory in SE1.

When the LTDA organise one, 7000 turn up, when the Socialists Cuban Front have one . . . well I think I can guess who will be there, the same dozen faces that always turn up for a Railway buffet.

Damn, I can't make it. :D

Who Runs the PCO/TfL?

So who really runs the PCO/TfL? Well, John Griffin, the shy and retiring godfather of Addison-Lee the minicab company, which has pretensions of becoming London's “Taxi Fleet,” seems to think he runs Transport for London.

After becoming aware that the M4 Bus Lane has absolutely no enforcement monitoring, Griffin sent out letters to all his drivers instructing them to use the Bus Lane even though the signage clearly states that only buses, licensed taxis and motorcycles are allowed to use it. The issue of the non policed Bus Lane has been high on the agenda of all the trade organisations for some time now, and the RMT have been in discussion with all the relevant agencies to try and bring a sane solution to the madness of TfL, The Highways Agency, the Police and the PCO each saying that it is the other one's responsibility to enforce. While all this is going on accidents and near misses are daily occurrences as minicabs pull into the Bus Lane across the paths of taxis to dodge traffic. It is by sheer luck that there has not been a fatal accident so far.

Back to John Griffin; not only has he told his drivers to use the bus lane thus putting two fingers up to the taxi trade and the PCO/TfL, but he is also instructing his drivers to break the law. Is this the way for a businessman to act? Some of his drivers may be recent immigrants to this country, possibly with a limited understanding of the written language and the law, and take his letter telling them to use the M4 Bus Lane at face value. Now I am sure that Griffin would pay the drivers' fines but what about the points on their driver's licence, and the bans they may receive, or increased insurance premiums? How will Griffin sort that out for those drivers obeying his law breaking instructions? He is putting their licences and their livelihood at risk. When, and not if, those drivers appear in court and face fines, points and possible bans, then John Griffin should stand in the dock with them and receive double whatever punishment his drivers get.

If the Public Carriage Office had the guts to use the same draconian laws with Private Hire that they use with licensed taxis then they would call John Griffin up to Penton Street. The PCO should tell John Griffin in no uncertain words that he is not above the law; they should then revoke his operator's licence as he is not a 'fit and proper' person. But of course, we know that will not happen because not only is he a Private Hire Operator whom the PCO bend over backwards to appease, but he is John Griffin the Godfather of Addison-Lee.

Points on your license? :?

You don't get points on your license for using a Bus Lane in an unauthorised vehicle, it's a fine and that's it.

This is the same group who has posted A4 sized bits of paper with roughly the same message as above, the posters contained various spelling mistakes.

Quality.

Angry socialists unite. 8)

GBC I see you are still spouting the same old cobblers as usual, is it because very soon you will be the only LTDA member left? LOL

And how you can knock the RMT posters is beyond me when you look at the ones Bob Oddys grandkids usually do!

The reason you only heard about it from a mate is cos none of us wanted you to know.

Enough to get you posting again Dissy, I guess that's what matters.

Still obsessed with the LTDA numbers?

Don't worry, they'll always be thousands more than the Socialists Railway Unions Taxi numbers.

You've become cocooned in the computer world Dissy, waken up it's not real life, it's an RMT forum with about 30 posters, that's the ones where you don't censor or delete their posts because they expose the truth about the RMT or two of it's members.

Real life is sitting in the taxi, like the other 25'970 drivers do, getting on with it, not lost in this world of cyber depression and misery the RMT forum seems to live in.

Going back to the topic of this thread though, I see the great drive in never even made the travel news.

That's the third 'action' where no one apart from a couple of dozen individuals has bothered to turn up. Does that tell you something?

Relax Dissy, the LTDA will sort it out, just tell Uncle GBC what the matter is? :D

Paul Pace. Is that the same guy who used to work for reisel and helped reisel get minicabs onto RTL?

Government Affairs Officer! That is nearly as grand as General Secretary of The Society of Professional Licensed Taxi Drivers (SPLT)

Do the RMT muppets know they have an ex minicab man on board?

Next will have Griffin as Bus Lane Affairs Officer, RMT Taxis London

And BRICEY as Taxi Incorporating Minicabs Officer, RMT Taxis London

Careful, you'll be accused of being me with a post like that!

Looking at those who have put their names against a position at the top of the RMT taxi branch, it’s the LCDC about 3 years ago with the inclusion of a second hand taxi salesman.

Good luck to them, but they need to change the record from attacking every other trade body and show people what they are supposedly capable of, so far I haven’t seen a thing. :?
