Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint in Latchford, Warrington POLICE are searching for three men who robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint in Latchford. The cabbie, a 46-year-old man, stopped to pick up three men on Wilderspool Causeway between 1.30am and 2am on Monday, August 31. They were driven to Whitley Avenue in Latchford and before leaving the taxi they threatened him with a knife, robbing him of his takings. They then ran from the cab along Whitley Avenue towards Barrymore Avenue. A police spokesman said: “The taxi driver was extremely shocked by the incident and was left with minor facial injuries, which did not require hospital treatment.” The first man is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall and of medium build. He had short dark hair and was wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit top with silver or grey sleeves. The second man was also white, around 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall and of medium build. He had blonde hair and was wearing a black casual three-quarter length jacket made from heavy material. Both men spoke with Warrington accents. Police do not have a description of the third man other than he was white. Officers are appealing for witnesses to the robbery or anyone who saw the offenders either on Wilderspool Causeway prior to getting into the taxi or around Whitley Avenue or Barrymore Avenue after leaving the cab to call DC Tracey Short at Warrington police station on 01244 613831 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111. |
