A suspended Leeds taxi licensing boss has returned to work after a council investigation cleared him of any wrong doing.
Des Broster, head of the council's taxi licensing section, was suspended in September last year when council chiefs launched an investigation into an allegation about his conduct.

The council has never revealed the nature of the allegation.

A council spokeswoman confirmed Mr Broster was back at work.

She said: "The single allegation which Des Broster faced was dismissed after an internal hearing.

"Des has remained an employee of the council throughout the investigation, although was suspended for a period of time.

"There are no disciplinary issues now outstanding and no reason why Des Broster should not resume his full operational duties.

"We are very pleased to see Des Broster returning to work with the full backing, support and confidence of Leeds City Council."

The council said it was impossible at this stage to calculate the cost of the investigation

And how much has all this cost the license fee payers of Leeds?

One year's salary to start with.

I dont think they will, and I am not one bit surprised the accusations were without foundation.

I doubt very much either but seen as they wanted to boast they had him suspended I thought I would just mention it. As one of the many Leeds licence holders who will probably end up paying towards the costs, the least I could do was ask.

Whoever made the complaint, and why, I know not.

But there must have been some substance to the complaint for the chap to be suspended for a year. :?

Why? How many times have drivers been suspended when an alegation has been made against them. Later it transpires that the complainant has made the whole story up.

Because we are dealing with employment law.

I would guess that in the case of certain alligations, the council would have to suspend the person pending a full inquiry.

Doesn't take a year to do that.

Does the bloke admit doing wrong? Yes gets sack, no suspended pending an investigation.

Is there enough evidence to prove wrongdoing? Yes gets sack, no gets job back.

Doesn't take a year to do that, a month at most.

In your opinion. Collecting the evidence would take longer than a month.
