Huddersfield Student To Stand Trial Accused Of Wakefield Road Taxi Driver Death Sept 18 2009 A student will stand trial in the new year accused of causing the death of a taxi driver by careless driving. Wasim Latif, 21, of Thanes Close, Huddersfield, has denied the allegation and yesterday a judge at Bradford Crown fixed his trial to start on January 18. Latif was granted bail until the trial. Grandfather and father-of-four, Tarlochan Singh Deo, 61, of Maple Grove, Fixby, died in October last year after his taxi hit an already damaged road sign on Wakefield Road, Lepton. It is alleged that Latif damaged the road sign shortly before it was struck by the taxi. Mr Deo worked for Streamline Taxis based on Railway Street in Huddersfield town centre. He was married with three daughters and a son. Source; Huddersfield Daily Examiner - examiner.co.uk |
