A MAN who robbed taxi drivers at knifepoint has been jailed for seven years.
Dean Morris, 21, of Shrubland Road, Hackney, was found guilty last Thursday of two robberies following a trial at Luton Crown Court.
The first happened at around 2.50am on March 6 this year in Mobbsbury Way, Stevenage.
The 36-year-old driver had picked up a fare from the taxi rank opposite McDonalds restaurant on Stevenage Leisure Park.
At the junction of Mobbsbury Way and Drakes Drive, Morris threatened him with what is believed to be a knife and demanded his takings. Shortly after 8.05pm three days later, a 38-year-old driver collected a fare from Stevenage Rail Station.
In Drakes Drive, Morris again produced what is believed to be a knife and threatened the driver before making off with cash and a radio mouthpiece.
After the hearing, Dc Helen Flynn from the eastern area burglary and robbery unit said: "This sentence reflects the robust stance taken by the police and the courts against robbers.
"Morris's conviction and sentence sends out a clear message that if you commit robbery in Hertfordshire you will be pursued, arrested and brought to justice.
In the imortal words of that bird from ghostbusters with the glasses...........WE GOT ONE!
