AN OLDBURY taxi driver who savagely stabbed a man because his car was blocking his vehicle at a car wash has been jailed for 32 months.
Mohammed Bashir was angry with Iqhlaq Ahmed and left him needing hospital treatment after he "thrust" the 12" long knife into his chest.
Judge Amjad Nawaz told 43-year-old Bashir at Wolverhampton Crown Court: "The injuries he suffered were not life threatening but they were serious.
"You had known each other for some years but there had been no friction between you for some years. "Then you arrived first at this car wash.
"Mr Ahmed arrived later and blocked you in and there was some verbal abuse. But you then took the knife and you thrust it into his chest while a second thrust cut his arm."
Bashir, of Primrose Bank, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.
Mr Sunit Sandhu defending said Bashir was a man of previous exemplary character and maintained there had been a "degree of provocation" from Mr Ahmed.
He told the court Bashir had worked as a taxi driver and had lead a law abiding life before the incident but his conviction meant that career was now over.
Miss Clare Coley prosecuting said Bashir had asked Mr Ahmed to move his car but he then charged at him wielding the knife and he stabbed him in the chest.
The second thrust caught Mr Ahmed on the left arm as Bashir threatened to kill him before another man at the car wash rushed to his assistance.
