Forres taxi driver admits trying to kiss women passengers

A French taxi driver in Moray who repeatedly tried to kiss female passengers was fined £450 and placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years yesterday.
Rene Richard Lecoustre, of 8 Plasmon Mill Court, Plasmon Lane, Forres, admitted offences against two women last month. Sheriff Noel McPartlin dismissed the 50-year-old’s claims that he was merely greeting the women in the style of his countrymen.
Sentence had been deferred until yesterday.
The court previously heard that on January 24, Lecoustre conducted himself in a disorderly manner by repeatedly kissing a woman on the cheek and asking for her telephone number while driving her from the High Street to Shaw Place in Elgin.
He admitted the allegations and a breach of the peace.
Lecoustre picked up the second woman a week later on January 31 and, during the seven-mile journey from Elgin to Burghead, suggested he could be her boyfriend and that they could get married.
He began leaning over towards her and repeatedly tried to kiss her.
When they arrived at Burghead he drove down the wrong street and stopped.
The woman became very scared and began to cry and could not get the door open.
She was then taken to the proper address.
Lecoustre admitted repeatedly trying to kiss the woman, placing her in a state of fear and alarm, committing a breach of the peace and conducting himself in a disorderly manner.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Lecoustre also worked at Walkers Shortbread and had been supplementing his income with taxi-driving shifts during his spare time.
