Taxi driver critical after attack outside bar
A taxi driver in Lancashire is fighting for his life after a man he refused to give a fare to punched him.
The 53-year-old Preston man, who was attacked outside Wall Street bar on Church Street in Preston at 2.15am on Friday, fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.
He suffered bleeding on the brain and is currently critical but stable in the Royal Preston Hospital.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the attack.
It is thought a group of four men came out of Wall Street and asked the cabbie for a fare.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested and is being quizzed by police.
Det Insp Dave McKenna, of Preston CID, said: "This is a very serious attack and we are appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened to contact us urgently."
The man's name has not yet been disclosed as police are still informing his relatives.
