Sex Assault Taxi Driver Avoids Jail

21 October 2009

A taxi driver who sexually assaulted a teenager walked away from court.

Malik Hussain, 40, was found guilty of assaulting the 19-year-old three times in the back of his black and white cab in August last year.

The victim's mother had seen her daughter into the taxi at around 2am on August 8 after they had been on a night out in Wakefield.

She had chosen Hussain's Hackney carriage cab after asking police which were the best taxis to use.

The mother had asked Hussain to look after the girl, who had been drinking, and she fell asleep in the back of the car.

Father-of-two Hussain, of Greenwood Road, Tingley, sexually assaulted the teenager despite her telling him to stop during the prolonged ordeal.

He had denied sexual assault but was convicted after a trial.

The court heard Hussain has lost his job as a taxi driver and now works in a fast food shop.

Hussain's lawyer, Aisha Khan, said: "He is a Muslim family man. His greatest punishment is the shame he has caused not only to himself but to his family."

Judge Penelope Belcher said Hussain took advantage of the girl who was "the worse for wear through drink."

Passing sentence, Judge Belcher told him: "You have shown no remorse at all because you continue to deny it. This offending was pure sexual gratification, exploiting a young girl who was in your care."

Hussain was given a 12-month community order with a supervision requirement and 250 hours unpaid work.

His name will be on the sex offender register for five years.

??????? The mind boggles. If this perv showed no remorse and continued to deny the assault as in the words of the judge then he was obviously pleading not guilty. If he'd have given a guilty plea he would have got a lesser sentence. Twelve months suspended sentence for near rape would likely have got him 2 weeks all inclusive in the Bahamas but for his not guilty plea. Like i've said before this country is a fn joke.

Oh I see and what would you have them do should you of course release them from the chains at the sink!! Women, drunk or sober should be safe in a taxi or ph

Here Here, there's no excuse, it's the same as condoning nicking fruit from a fruit stall just because it was on show isn't it, I see Wanna's point, but regardless of the state of the woman the driver shouldn't have been drinking so therefore he should be of the mindset that this woman is vunerable and should be looked after while in his care, I think it demonstrates what we all know really goes on, but the PC brigade won't allow one to say exactly what the problem is, but I will go as far as to say drunk women are trophies to this sort of cabby, and if they can take advantage they will, I guess it comes down to who you are in the end, a decent driver will do his job, and a 5hithouse will think hey ho free bunkup here.
