We've got the coppers on our cases now because of the shortage of rank spaces, it looks like the Council have passed it onto the coppers. They paid us a visit yesterday and kindly asked us not to cause any trouble, we obliged because they were polite with us. When the Council come down they tell us to move with an army style look.

Crazy, councils are just passing the buck. There quite happy dishing out licences and taking the money but then on the other hand they're chasing you away telling you there are too many taxi's and not enough space. It should be stated in licensing terms and regulations that they love to take your money but you must stay at home.

Which council are you licensed with Nigel?
It's getting beyond a joke here as well. The wardens are forever moving us off for over ranking the feeder rank opposite the council house.
We could knacker the traffic flow up in about 60 seconds if we all circled the island waiting for a space.
Those clowns in power have caused this problem. How the hell can Derby have more Hackneys than Nottingham? I mean,I don't like the place(football rivalries run deep :D ) but it's a proper city.We are a 2 street town.
It's time for action me thinks from cabbies around the country.

Having said all that,I am quite lucky that the airports are going so well I am not in town so much these days, but even on a Saturday night the cabs are sat round until after 01.00.
Regards
Steve

I can't say a deal yet mate regarding the Ace card but it's a good one, we've got the problem with Ashfield and Mansfield Councils, they keep issuing plates but there's no spaces left, we are like you we are going to circle the main roundabout and cause some disruption if the Council don't get off our backs. The Police were OK about it they asked us politely to move on.

The first thing I'd be doing is getting hold of all the latest crime figures for Mansfield under the freedom of info act, then get a photo of the Police spending time playing at Traffic Wardens and then pass it onto the local rag.

I'm sure the victims of the local yobs / scum / burglars / dealers will be impressed with the new found priority of Taxi ranking.

More news today chaps, the Council have now decided to issue letters asking drivers to attend the Council offices, they are giving the drivers a verbal warning about over ranking if, they appear in front of them again they are suspending badges for 7 days then they are going to the Magistrates to apply for a 28 day suspension if they appear in front of them for a 2nd time. They are getting evidence from the CCTV camera and loading it all onto DVD for the Council licensing officers to see.

Environmental Protection - Air Quality

The Environmental Health Protection Team have the responsibility for monitoring and reporting the air quality in the district and providing strategies to help us deliver continual improvements.

Air Quality Review and Assessment Reports - statutory duty

It is a statutory requirement for the Council to assess air quality on a yearly basis, to send a copy of the report to Defra for approval, and to make copies available to the public (normally in libraries and at the Council offices). All the Air Quality Reports may be downloaded by clicking on the links on the right. The purpose of these reports is to update our air quality monitoring in the district and assess any changes that have taken place since the previous assessment that may affect air quality. Reports are normally available by May for the previous year.

Air quality improvement strategy and air quality action plans

Each year, the Air Quality Action Plan out-turn, and the new plan for the following year, are approved by the Portfolio Holder for the Environment. This report is closely monitored to ensure the actions are completed or on target for completion. The Action Plans are included in the Air Quality Reports.

The Nottinghamshire Air Quality Strategy, 'A Breath of Fresh Air', was relaunched in Spring 2008. It is available on this website (see link) and the Nottinghamshire County Council website. This document details county-wide actions to improve air quality, and is supplemented by our Air Quality Review and Assessment Progress Reports, which include out-turns from the action plan and details how the objectives are being, or will be, achieved.

NB This page is currently being revised and we regret that no links are available at present.

Perhaps you should ask this department on their views about 100 taxis driving from rank to rank and the effect that will have on both traffic and air quality?

They have no powers to ask Magistrates to do anything.

You and I both know that but this Council lot up here don't seem to know that.

As I keep saying Captain, it's about time that the cab trade had a NATIONAL DAY of plying for hire.

24 hours of working to rule on one specific day in early January in every city, town, village & hamlet throughout the country would make it national news.

The national gridlock would be amazing. Businesses would rant at MPs & councillors nationwide. They in turn would take an interest in the situation.

I say all out on Wednesday 6th January 2010. Drive for hire, don't overrank, fill up rank spaces if you pass them (illegal under byelaws if you don't) & lets have a bit of NATIONAL action!!

The over supply of taxis is an almost national issue. Except for Oxford I suppose.
