I went to manchester sat night to pick up outside Tiger Tiger , as i drove there 2 girls who i was picking up came to the window and showed me an receipt for proof of pick up , all of a sudden a traffic warden appeared photographed the front reg plate and then me as i picked up , i asked him what was wrong , and he said i couldn't pick up there and i would receive a £70 ticket in the post , any help with this would be appreciated . I am a private hire driver from leigh. |

Can't do nothing unless the ticket was on the vehicle, in fact I don't think they can do anything as you were in the car. |

Tiger Tiger is on Withy Grove. This is a no STOPPING area. There are signs warning you not to stop every 3 metres or so. Your unlucky all the M/cr cabs no this as they are being plagued by daft decisions by M/cr traffic management. One of the more stupid decisions is to put cycle lanes going the wrong way up a one way street. Its chaos out there. |

Have a look at http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=idx Councils are permitted to issue tickets by post (I think it's reg 9) but frequently the wording or procedures are wrong and an appeal can overturn it. Have a good read of the site above and, if and when you get a ticket, post it in a new thread in 'parking and decriminalised notices.' There's a lot of good, expert advice on that site. |

http://www.trafficpenaltytribunal.gov.uk/site/index.php If your appeal fails you could look into the above, one of our members did appeal to the traffic penalty tribunal and won on the grounds that a traffic warden could not decide in 1 minute if an offence had been committed Good Luck.

I would go along the lines, when appealing, that if you hadn't stopped you would have knocked the girls over, and you couldn't pull away as one had the door open etc etc. But appeal whatever you do.

Make sure you research the situation thoroughly. A properly prepared appeal will give you a greater chance of winning. Bear in mind, some sites offer research advice whilst others will show you procedure and case histories. You will need to combine the sum of knowledge from numerous sources. |

I'd also ask for a copy of the relevant Traffic Regulation Order if you have the time. Go through it and make sure the signs and lines are in their right places. Wouldn't be the first time a red-faced LA had to give a refund or stop enforcement because the signs-and-lines didn't match what was in the order. Drop me a PM if you want more info.
