A taxi driver said he would never work as a cabbie again after his ear was bitten off by a passenger.
Father-of-six Bashir Abdullah broke down in tears as he relived the moment his three-year-old daughter would not go to him in his hospital bed after seeing his injury for the first time.

His other daughters, aged just six and nine, were so distressed they were physically sick, according to his wife Aisha.

Bashir, 43, who has been a cabbie for five years, was attacked by a passenger when he dropped off a fare in Lancaster Road, Preston, at around 1.15am on Sunday, January 3.

The man is alleged have leant forward and ripped part of his ear off with his teeth.

The Miller Taxis driver has had an operation and must undergo more reconstructive surgery.

Sobbing, he said: "It has put me off working in a taxi forever, it is so scary I don't think I can do it again. I am scared to death for my life.

"But the worst thing is that my little daughter would not come to me when she saw.

"My other daughters told me to find a new job because the people are so cruel.I can't believe people could do this to someone. I don't understand it."

Aisha, 43, who has been married to Bashir for 23 years, said: "He is a kind, gentle man. He will never be the same again.

"Our children want to know why he didn't hit him back and I have had to explain it's because Daddy is a good man. They asked why his face is not happy anymore."

Mr Abdullah, who lives in Blackburn, is so embarrassed by his horrific injury that he would not have his photograph taken and does not want to go out in public.

A 23-year-old man appeared before Preston Magistrates Court yesterday charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

The incident comes two months after a Preston hackney carriage driver was left fighting for his life after allegedly being punched by a man he refused to take in his cab.

The 53-year-old dad hit his head on the pavement outside the Wall Street bar in Fishergate
