Carlisle taxi driver badly injured in crash A Carlisle taxi driver was seriously injured in a road accident in Stranraer. The 48-year-old was hurt when the car he was driving left the A75 at Glenluce at around 7.45pm on Sunday. The taxi driver – believed to be a driver with city taxi firm Radio Taxis – was initially taken to The Galloway Community Hospital with a broken shoulder, broken ribs and internal injuries. He was later airlifted to Crosshouse Hospital at Kilmarnock due to complications with his breathing. Dumfries and Galloway police said the Skoda Octavia vehicle fell into a ditch and turned on its roof during the incident. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the collision. A police spokesman said yesterday that the man’s condition was “serious but stable”. A spokesman at Radio Taxis confirmed that a taxi had been involved in an accident and that the driver remained in hospital. That's a horrible start to the year and I hope he makes a full recovery. The pressures of having to make a living in some cases override the risks drivers face in the these conditions |
