Cumbrian "taxi" firm owners admit licence breach source: http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/ The owners of a Silloth cab firm have appeared in court after one allowed the other to drive a taxi without the proper licence. Deborah Wilson, 42, of Greenrow Meadows, Silloth, was spotted driving a private hire vehicle – but investigations revealed she did not hold the correct licence. Henry Holder, 38, also of Greenrow Meadows, was prosecuted after admitting allowing the offence. Carlisle Magistrates Court heard on December 1 that the pair are business partners and co-owners of Solway Private Hire. Mr Holder is the licensed private hire operator for the company, which operates two licensed private hire vehicles, and holds a private hire driver’s licence. However, on September 10 and 12 last year, she was seen to drive licensed private hire vehicles. Allerdale Council inquiries revealed that the insurance on those vehicles did not cover Wilson to drive them as she did not hold a private hire driver’s licence. Wilson admitted driving the private hire vehicles while unlicensed and uninsured. Holder also pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed private hire driver without insurance. They were each given a conditional discharge for 12 months, awarded six penalty points and ordered to pay £75 costs. |
