The taxi trade in Edinburgh is proposing to the council that the Christmas Tariff 4 be applied every Friday and Saturday night from midnight to 4 am. It claims this is to encourage more drivers to work these hours? Wasn't it the same vested interest trade representatives proposing this who claimed there was no unmet demand during these times and that no extra taxis were needed? And didn't the council accept the premise and recently refuse 92 licences to drivers willing to provide the service during these peak periods? So, rather than let the market determine the supply of taxis to meet the demand, the council and the vested interests taxi trade are seeking to stiff the customers, hold them to ransom, by charging them the Christmas tariff every weekend. Won't the taxi trade's Santa Clause come every weekend wearing a Dick Turpin mask? |

More than likely, but whenever did your local so-called leadership ever make sense?
