DELTA Taxis drove off with a third consecutive award at last Friday’s Sefton Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and Prestige Ball.

The Strand Road firm scooped the Marketing and Advertising Award in front of 400 guests at Southport’s Floral Hall.

They were joined on the podium by Bootle businesses Smart Storage, who won the Small Business of the Year award, and finalists Ezefitness, Business Focus and Associates and Seaforth firm, City Lets.

Bootle businessman Ron Lofthouse was also awarded a special achievement award for his service to south Sefton in a what was a successful night for the town.

Delta Taxi’s passenger numbers grew by one million in 2009 as it reaped the rewards of a productive marketing strategy.

The firm remains Europe’s busiest and fastest growing taxi operation despite the credit crunch.

Company secretary Paul McLaughlin said: “We’ve ventured into completely new and wholly positive ways of raising the company’s profile. For example, in support of the local community we signed a £42,000 sponsorship deal with Bootle FC, on the back of the banking scandal we joined forces with Juice FM to pull off a high-profile publicity stunt. And, as a celebration of green initiatives for Liverpool’s Year of the Environment, we designed a much sought-after reusable carbon-neutral shopping bag for mass production, which we distributed free to tens of thousands of shoppers.

He added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the award.”
