Shame on you, taxi drivers 1 March, 2010 This last Saturday afternoon my neighbour, her partner and dog were refused a taxi by ALL the taxi's then on Victoria Pier. Their reason, the dog was wet! Yes there is still plenty of wet snow around, and ice on pavements that are not all clear and treacherous to everyone and more so for the unsighted. Oh I didn't mention, my neighbour is blind, and the dog? An expensively trained guide dog. Shame on the taxi drivers on Victoria Pier. She did get a taxi. Im no expert on the Shetlands but Id have thought the Victoria Pier Taxi drivers (how many of them there are ive no Idea) would have been pleased to take on any work that came their way..wet guide dog or otherwise. Are they making so much money up there that they can pick and chose and deny a blind lady and her dog her rights to a Taxi?? shame on em right enough!! |

Perhaps all the drivers in question have said exemption, and your anger is misplaced, T. Then again....................... On a lighter note does anyone remember Scully's deodorant in Monsters Inc was "Wet Dog"

Are guide dogs exempt from the soiling charge? If you must carry a guide dog and it makes a mess in the car you must be able to charge for the cleaning. |

If the dog was wet and dirty then it shouldn't have been taken out by the owner. Someone is trying to get a few PC points, and that's wrong. Pretty sure I would have refused the wet and dirty dog, and took my chance in court. |
