Cos at present the council are pi**ing over them.

They cannot refuse to renew for 3 points. Magistrates are a higher authority. If the magistrates thought he was a danger to the public THEY would have put him out of work. They did not. A council cannot sit in judgement of a higher authorities decsion and say they were not hard enough have another dollop. Double jepordy, not allowed. |

plenty of drivers round here have got points for using their mobile while driving NONE were threatened with losing their license because of it I'm not sure we are in full possesion of the facts here is this the only points offence on his license or are there more in which case they would need to review the license |

Maybe, but I'm yet to be convinced they can suspend drivers. Other than up to the date of a trial/court hearing for serious allegations. |

He says he told the council in December about the offence but fears if the licence is not renewed by the end of the month he will be out of a job. A Fenland Council spokesman said: "There is no question of Mr Patrick being victimised in any way and we have not refused to renew his licence. "We are following the normal process for reviewing the licence of any driver who has committed a traffic offence. The process is there to protect the safety of the public and it involves getting all the relevant information from the DVLA. "In Mr Patrick's case, we are currently chasing that information to ensure that his situation can be considered by the licensing committee before his current licence expires. |

You give them the power to do exactly what they like. Oh and if you are not happy with their decision, you can appeal against it before the court. Which will probably uphold their decision or pass it back to the committee to reconsider, if the judge believes they've got it wrong?
